Module 3

Materials Generators

Materials generators "help teachers and students produce instructional materials on paper and online" (Roblyer, 2016, p. 164).

The first materials generator that I found was an awesome Google Add-on.  This allows you to take any information that is typed in a document and turn it into a question on a form.  This could take so much time out of formatting a test or a questionnaire.  I will definitely use this in my future classroom!

The second materials generator that I love is Puzzle-Maker.  This website allows teachers to enter words and clues to create a crossword puzzle.  This could be used in all subject areas for an engaging way to learn vocabulary.

Data Collection and Analysis Tools

Data Collection and Analysis Tools are used to make collecting and understanding data easier.  They also allow ways to show feedback to students (Roblyer, 2016, p. 141).

The first data collection and analysis tool that I found was a Google Add-on.  Reports and Trends for Google Docs and Classroom is an Add-on that allows teachers to see when students complete work.  It also allows for the creation of charts and graphs to see a student's progress.

The second data collection and analysis tool that I found super useful was Survey Monkey.  This allows the teacher to see how students are feeling about a subject area, or how well they think they have mastered a subject in a graph or chart.

Testing and Grading Tools

Testing and grading tools "help teachers collect and track assessment information to measure student progress" (Roblyer, 2016, p. 141).

The first amazing tool that I found on Google Add-ons was JoeZoo Express.  This Add-on allows for teachers to easily and quickly create rubrics and grade tests.

Quick Grade is an awesome website! Keeping up with an EZ Grader can be difficult, but this website allows you to put in the number of questions, and it tells you the grade for a certain number of missed questions.

Graphic Tools

Graphic tools are illustrations and visuals that add to the information being taught including drawing and painting (Roblyer, 2016, p. 156)

Word Cloud Generator is an Add-on for Google docs that allows students to put words into a database, and it creates an awesome word cloud.

The second Graphic Tool that I found was Cool Symbol.  This website allows students to use interesting fonts to increase their memorization of information taught in the classroom.

Planning and Organizing Tools

Planning and organizing tools are able to "help teachers and students conceptualize, organize, and communicate their ideas (Roblyer, 2016, p. 141)

This Google Add-on is amazing! It takes information that students gather and places it into a mind map.  This will allow students to see information in a different way besides the bullet point list.

Another amazing resource is Plan Book.  This software allows teachers to type in their lesson plans and pull them up on any computer.  This would be awesome when working at home and school.

Research and Reference Tools

Research and reference tools allow students to look up information online (Roblyer, 2016, p. 141).

This Google Add-on is amazing for students (even myself).  It allows you to look up words and see their definition while you type.  It also allows you to look up synonyms for words that you are using.  This is an awesome add-on that I have installed for myself!

Another amazing resource for students that falls under the research and reference tools category is National Geographic Interactive World Atlas.  This website allows students to not only look at maps and see where they are, but also use them in fun and creative ways.

Content-Area Tools

Content Area Tools "support tasks specific to content areas such as technology education, music, reading, science, math, social studies, and foreign languages" (Roblyer, 2016, p. 141).

Google translate+ is an amazing foreign language translator. This app is a Google Add-on.  Students can type in information and it will translate it to most languages.

Graphic Calculator is an awesome website that allows students to put in information and it will graph their equations.  This would be extremely useful for students to see their graphs quickly.

Comments

  1. I also chose JoeZoo to discuss for this module! It is a great google add-on and extremely easy to use! I also like the graphic tool you used called Cool Symbol. This is great to "attract reader attention to important information on the page" (Roblyer, 2016, p. 143). Overall, interesting and intriguing apps!
